NHL Insider Claims Sam Bennett has Already Mentally Signed with the Maple Leafs

Florida Panthers forward Sam Bennett is going to be one of the biggest free agents on the market this summer, and the Toronto Maple Leafs would love to have him.
Sam Bennett is one of the best playoff performers in the NHL right now as he has 15 points in 16 games. In the regular season, he had 51 points in 76 games, which shows he is a playoff riser.
However, he is a free agent this summer, and there are all sorts of rumors going around about who he wants to sign with.
Of course, the Toronto Maple Leafs would love to have him, and as of right now, there are some conflicting reports on whether or not the interest here is actually mutual.
Where is Sam Bennett signing in free agency?
Reporter John Shannon previously stated that Bennett has narrowed down his search to the Maple Leafs and his current team, the Panthers.
However, on 'Leafs Morning Take,' Shannon made the claim that the Panthers are actually very nervous. He claims the Panthers are worried that Bennett has already signed with the Leafs in his mind.
I know that there are people in the Panthers organization that are concerned that Sam Bennett might have already made up his mind now that something might happen with the Maple Leafs, and are hoping that they can still convince him to play in Sunrise.
It is impossible to say whether or not Bennett has actually made such a decision and whether or not he has truly done it so soon.
However, this is the time of year when every single analyst and insider tries to one-up one another with scoops and predictions disguised as insider information.
Overall, the Leafs are going to be subjected to a lot of this throughout the season, and it will be interesting to see how it all plays out.
For the time being, Sam Bennett remains a target, and Leafs fans will continue to hope he comes to Toronto...for the right price.
