With the MLB Speedway Classic becoming a huge success at Bristol Motor Speedway, the NHL is thinking of holding a Winter Classic at the famous race track.
Yesterday, Major League Baseball made history with the first ever game held on a NASCAR race track. Of course, we are talking about the Speedway Classic at Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee.
Overall, it was an incredible event, and while there was a rain delay, there is no doubt that this was one of the coolest sporting events ever concocted.
With the race track proving to be the perfect collosseum for a sporting event, it is now being reported that Gary Bettman and the NHL are thinking of going into business with NASCAR.
NHL x NASCAR becomin a possibility
According to reports, the NHL was present at the event on Saturday night, and they were there to survey the area, and figure out whether or not the race track would be a good place for a hockey game.
Of course, this would mean the Nashville Predators would be getting a Winter or Heritage Classic. Some feel like the Carolina Hurricanes should be in the game.
Why? Well, Carolina is the home of NASCAR. Not to mention, Nashville vs. Caroline would spell out NAS/CAR.
Overall, this would prove to be a fun event, and while the Speedway Classic did have its fair share of challenge, the league could find a way to improve the format.
There is no telling whether or not NASCAR and the NHL will go through with this, but it could be something to think about for the future.
Bristol Motor Speedway is one of the most historic tracks in all of NASCAR, and it definitely would be amazing to see hockey take place there.
Only time will tell whether or not the NHL can officially make this happen.
