Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner is likely to leave in free agency, and the team has to find a replacement, otherwise, they are in big trouble.

Mitch Marner is likely to exercise his right to explore free agency on July 1st, and this has created a tough decision within the team's front office.
Without Marner's production, the team could take a huge step back next season, which would go against the goals of the team's ownership group.
However, there are some moves that could be made this Summer that would certainly inject some offense into the roster.

Chris Kreider to the Toronto Maple Leafs

David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period suggests the Leafs might make a run at New York Rangers forward Chris Kreider.
Kreider only had 22 goals and 30 points last season, however, there is a chance he gets back to that 30-goal pace that made him such an asset t the Rangers franchise.
"I expect the Rangers to listen again and make calls on Chris Kreider. For a team that is looking to pluck someone away because of New York's cap situation -- if a team like the Leafs, or another club feel that Kreider is someone that can get back to 30-goal form. If he can get back to that at a $6.5M clip the next two seasons, that's not a bad risk to take. I could certainly see the Leafs exploring that possibility."
There are other players the Leafs could go after, but Kreider remains a player of interest.
Overall, lots of teams will be looking to acquire the forward. Of course, a $6.5 million cap hit is hard to swallow.
If Marner does decide to leave, the Leafs cannot afford to be too picky. If they are, they could very well find themselves with an incomplete roster.
Only time will tell whether or not this year's free agency is successful. However, if one thing is for certain, it is that fans are a bit anxious.
