Toronto Maple Leafs Fans Get Bad First Impression of Henry Thrun After Ill-Advised Comments

Newly-acquired Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Henry Thrun spoke to the media today for the first time, and his comments were certainly interesting, yet ill-advised.
On Thursday last week, the Toronto Maple Leafs traded Ryan Reaves to the San Jose Sharks for defenseman Henry Thrun.
Overall, this was the perfect trade for the Leafs as they got rid of an enforcer who probably wasn't long for the team anyway.
Meanwhile, they brought in a young defenseman with lots of potential who the San Jose Sharks might just regret giving away for nothing.
Henry Thrun introduced to Toronto Maple Leafs media
Today, Thrun got to speak to the Toronto media for the first time, and while his brutal honesty is appreciated, there are some Leafs fans out there who might not feel the same way.
While speaking to the media, Thrun noted that while he is happy to have been sent to a contending team, his favorite franchise growing up was always the Boston Bruins.
Hate to say it, I was a Bruins fan growing up.
Despite these comments, we're sure Leafs fans can look past the faux pas and appreciate this kid for what he is and what he could be.
While he might have to compete with Simon Benoit for that sixth defenseman spot, he is still a guy who can generate offense.
This is the kind of production the Leafs need from their blue line, and it makes Thrun a fascinating player for the upcoming season.
Only time will tell whether or not this trade works out for the Leafs, and whether it works out for the Sharks as well.
