The Toronto Maple Leafs have had some truly special players throughout their history, and one of them just so happens to be former first overall pick Wendel Clark.
That said, the Maple Leafs have some incredible players from the past, and the fanbase has plenty of nostalgia for some of these legends.
Recently, The Leafs Nation asked Toronto Maple Leafs fans to vote on who their favorite Leaf of all time is, and the answer should not be surprising.
It ended up being none other than Wendel Clark, who was the team's first overall pick all the way back in 1985.
Wendel Clark remains the Toronto Maple Leafs fan favorite
Unfortunately for
Wendel Clark, he was riddled with injuries throughout his career, and it affected his ability to get any real consistency over the seasons.
He had 793 career games and 330 goals. During the 1993-94 season, he had a 46-goal campaign, which just so happened to be the highlight of his career.
Clark also played for the Quebec Nordiques, New York Islanders, Detroit Red Wings, Tampa Bay Lightning, and the Chicago Blackhawks.
However, he finished off his career with the Toronto Maple Leafs, which meant a lot to the fanbase which had been starting for superstars.
Now,
Auston Matthews has a chance to take the favorite Maple Leaf of all time mantel, although it could take him a while to get there.
Whatever the case may be, Wendel Clark is a legend, and Maple Leafs fans will always love him for his contributions.
