The Toronto Maple Leafs would love another big defenseman and there are plenty around the league that they could trade for when the deadline arrives in a few weeks.
Maple Leafs General Manager Brad Treliving has to do something here as the trade deadline is coming up in a few weeks right now.
According to The Fourth Period, the Maple Leafs are one of three teams that are taking a very serious look at Jamie Oleksiak.
The 6'7", 250-pound defenseman is an absolute behemoth and would be the perfect player to add to the roster before making a playoff run.
"Teams have interest in Oleksiak, who has another year left on his contract after this season, and Seattle may be willing to entertain calls. He owns a 16-team no-trade list as part of his contract and will have a say in where he ends up, if dealt. TEAMS REPORTEDLY LINKED: Toronto, Dallas, Edmonton"
The Seattle Kraken are definitely a team that the Maple Leafs could do business with especially when you consider how they want Nick Robertson.
As for
Oleksiak, he has four goals and nine assists this season with a net rating of -4.
While his numbers don't jump off the page, he is someone who could certainly make a massive impact for the team, going forward.
The only thing keeping this deal from happening is Treliving himself, as well as the potential asking price which appears to be unknown.
Either way, the Leafs have options out there and they should be trying to improve as a Stanley Cup is the ultimate goal.
