James Reimer is currently on a PTO with the Toronto Maple Leafs, and tonight, an opportunity is in front of him that could lead to NHL action in the future.

Just about a week ago, the Toronto Maple Leafs signed their former goaltender, James Reimer, to a PTO due to Joseph Woll's leave of absence.
It was certainly a difficult decision given the circumstances, although you would be hard-pressed to find a Leafs fan who hates the signing.
Reimer is a low-risk goalie who would only be the team's backup for about a month, should the Leafs decide to officially go down that road.
However, we have yet to see Reimer in action throughout the preseason. This has made it so that the team has not had the proper chance to assess his NHL readiness.

Toronto Maple Leafs to play James Reimer

Well, that is all going to change tonight as the Toronto Maple Leafs play their final game of the preseason against the Detroit Red Wings.
The Leafs will be starting Dennis Hildeby in goal, although, as Craig Berube confirmed moments ago, Reimer will split the game.
This means that by Monday, the Toronto Maple Leafs are likely to have an official decision on Reimer, which is certainly good to see.
For Toronto Maple Leafs fans, an official Reimer reunion would be pretty cool, especially since the goaltender had to suffer through some bad Leafs teams.
With that in mind, we are going to be rooting for Reimer tonight, no matter what. He deserves the support of Leafs Nation for this one.
Meanwhile, this also puts pressure on Dennis Hildeby to perform, as the team is going to want a big performance from him to keep his job.
