Toronto Maple Leafs Linked to 30-Goal Scorer as the Summer of Brad Treliving Continues

Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving wants to improve his team, and the Pittsburgh Penguins have a 30-goal scorer who appears to be available.
Bryan Rust is a forward who has been embroiled in numerous trade rumors as of late, and it is easy to see why this would be the case.
Following a 31-goal season with 34 more assists to boot, Rust is at peak value right now, and in some respects, his $5.125 million AAV looks like a complete steal.
Bryan Rust to the Toronto Maple Leafs?
According to Adam Gretz of
Bleacher Report, the Toronto Maple Leafs are easily one of the favorites to acquire Rust.
Mostly, this has to do with the fact that the Leafs need a right-winger to replace
Mitch Marner on the top line alongside
Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner.
However, Gretz did not that the Leafs do not have a ton of cap space right now, which could be a deterrent to them making a deal.
The Maple Leafs would need to get a little creative to make the money work, given they have just a little more than $2 million in salary-cap space, though that can always be worked around.
The Maple Leafs keep losing in the playoffs because they never score enough goals or come through in big moments. Rust has a knack for being the type of player who has consistently come through in big games.
Some Leafs fans have dubbed this the "Summer of Brad" and he continues to show that he is a beast when it comes to making trades.
Whether or not the Leafs and Penguins do business together remains to be seen. Dubas will likely have a ton of suitors for Rust.
This Leafs roster could use a right-winger who can score 30 goals in a season, and Rust remains the best option available.
