Insider Drops Major Bombshell Regarding Brad Treliving's Quest for Nazem Kadri

Calgary Flames center Nazem Kadri is someone the Toronto Maple Leafs are trying to trade for, but general manager Brad Treliving is running into issues.
Nazem Kadri and the Toronto Maple Leafs were a match made in heaven 10 years ago. However, Kyle Dubas made his greatest mistake when he traded the forward.
Overall, Kadri's departure from Toronto remains one of the worst things to ever happen to Leafs fans. They have wanted him back for years, and much to their delight, the rumors have suggested this could come to fruition.
For weeks now, there have been reports about the Leafs attempting to trade for Kadri, or at least kicking tires.

Unfortunately, a new report from Nick Kypreos is pouring cold water on those rumors.
As you will read below, the Sportsnet insider has stated that Brad Treliving has attempted to make numerous trades with his former team over the years, and none have worked out. Given that track record, Kadri is completely unlikely.
Brad Treliving has tried numerous times to trade with his old club [Calgary] in the past only to be shut down...on Tanev, Zadorov and Andersson; "it may be a stretch for the Leafs to land Kadri"
Overall, losing out on Kadri is going to hurt, but fans should not be surprised by any of this.
His return to Toronto was always going to be a pipe dream, and it was silly for fans to think otherwise.
While the Leafs lineup could use an injection of offense down the middle, they seem to have an abundance of centers right now.
Only time will tell whether or not the Maple Leafs can make more improvements to the roster before the season begins.
