The Toronto Maple Leafs have been embroiled in a ton of trade rumors as of late and it seems like Fraser Minten and Easton Cowan are very much at risk.
Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving has some huge decisions to make as it pertains to his roster at the trade deadline.
Overall, it appears clear that the franchise would like to pursue a third-line center and perhaps a depth defenseman to bolster the blue line.
Are Fraser Minten and Easton Cowan staying with the Maple Leafs?
According to reporter Lance Hornby, fans don't actually have to worry all that much about Minten and Cowan.
As Hornby reports, Treliving wants to make some moves, but he also doesn't want to engage in an expensive market that would force him to part ways with two potential offensive stars.
Leafs GM Brad Treliving is known for staying active and keeping tabs on big deals. However, in his final pre-deadline chat with local media, he suggested he's not looking to jump into an expensive market, especially with Toronto already without a first-round pick this year and aiming to hold on to top prospects Easton Cowan and Fraser Minten.
While this might be a relief to some Maple Leafs fans, others may see it more cynically. The knock against Treliving has been the fact that he rarely swings for the fences.
With Cowan and Minten seemingly off limits, it is now clear that Brad Treliving has no desire to go after the biggest targets at the deadline.
We are still three days out from the trade deadline, so it will be interesting to see what the team does moving forward.
Fans will be watching closely, and the same can be said for Fraser Minten and Easton Cowan, who are not out of the woods just yet.
