Toronto Maple Leafs Mourn the Tragic Passing of their Former General Manager

Today, it was announced that former Toronto Maple Leafs goalie and general manager Gerry McNamara passed away at the age of 90.
There were some very sad stories out of the hockey world this week as Ray Shero and Greg Millen both passed away far too soon.
Another tragic passing was announced today as former Maple Leafs general manager, scout, and goaltender, Gerry McNamara, died at 90.
He played a few games in the NHL back in the 1960-61 season before mostly spending time in the minor leagues.

However, he truly made his mark on hockey in the 80s as the general manager of the Leafs. It was during this time that he was able to draft guys like Wendel Clark.
Today, the Leafs took to social media where they announced the news and gave a heartfelt tribute to the man.
We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former Maple Leafs player, scout, and General Manager, Gerry McNamara. Gerry made an enduring impact on the organization, most notably by bringing Börje Salming to Toronto, helping pave the way for future generations of European players in the NHL. As General Manager, he continued to shape the franchise, including the selection of Wendel Clark as the first overall pick in the 1985 Entry Draft.
