Joseph Woll will be returning to the Toronto Maple Leafs soon, and as a result, the team has been forced to put a struggling backup goalie on waivers.
Woll's return to the team is very welcomed right now, especially since
Anthony Stolarz has been forced to carry the entire workload.
Having said that, there have been questions about backup goalie
Cayden Primeau, who has not been good despite his 2-1 record to start the season.
With the news that Woll is going to be returning soon, the Toronto Maple Leafs decided to make their decision final on Cayden Primeau.
According to Chris Johnston and David Alter on X, Primeau has officially been placed on waivers. Now, any team is able to come and swoop in for him.
Of course, if no one claims Primeau, he will immediately go down to the Toronto Marlies. However, that does create questions for this weekend.
The Toronto Maple Leafs are going to be playing the Boston Bruins and the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
If Woll is with the Marlies, and Cayden Primeau is with the Marlies, then perhaps we get a game from goaltender
Dennis Hildeby.
Only time will tell what is in store for Primeau and whether or not the Maple Leafs are going to be able to keep him in the AHL.
Whatever the case may be, we doubt we will ever see him again playing between the pipes for the Maple Leafs.
