Insider Provides Much-Needed Clarity on the David Kampf Situation

Toronto Maple Leafs forward David Kampf has been suspended without pay, but thankfully, insider Frank Seravalli has some much-needed clarification on this.
David Kampf has been suspended without pay from the Toronto Maple Leafs, and by extension, the Toronto Marlies as well.
This was not an easy decision for the Maple Leafs, although it is one that had to be made after Kampf decided to refuse travel with the Marlies.
The Maple Leafs are trying to look for a solution, and amidst this suspension, there has been a bit of confusion about what the next steps are.

According to Frank Seravalli, the next steps are actually quite simple. The Leafs will either trade him or terminate his contract.
There is another option here, as the Maple Leafs can always bring him back, although that seems like the least likely option.
Housekeeping (for cap purposes): #LeafsForever suspended forward David Kampf on Nov. 2 for failure to report to AHL Marlies. Toronto hasn't been carrying his $1.25m buried cap hit for five days now.

As Seravalli noted, the suspension has actually been retroactive since November 2nd, which means the Leafs have been keeping this under wraps since the top of the week.
They are doing this for cap reasons, as well, as it has been made clear that Kampf's salary is not counting right now.
This was a hard decision for the Maple Leafs to make, although it is one that had to be made, all things considered.
Only time will tell whether or not the Leafs are able to get a trade done and end this saga, once and for all.
