Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Dennis Hildeby had a rough outing against the Carolina Hurricanes, although head coach Craig Berube isn't worried.

Before the season started, Dennis Hildeby was sent down to the Toronto Marlies of the AHL. The Leafs chose Cayden Primeau instead, as Joseph Woll was out on a leave of absence.
This turned out to be a bit of a mistake as Primeau was not very good. Over the weekend, he was put on waivers and subsequently claimed by the Carolina Hurricanes.
On Sunday, Hildeby got to play against the Hurricanes, who peppered him with 47 shots. While he allowed five goals, you could hardly say that any of this was his fault.

Craig Berube speaks on Dennis Hildeby

After the game, head coach Craig Berube spoke candidly about Hildeby and what he thought of his game and performance.
As you can imagine, Berube was very fair. He was quick to take the blame away from the goalie, noting that the defense shouldn't be out there allowing so many breakaways.
He made a lot of saves. I mean, we gave them, what, three breakaways in the second period? Maybe four. I don't know. I lost count. You know, it has nothing to do with the goalie.
Dennis Hildeby will likely be on his way back down to the Toronto Marlies this week as goaltender Joseph Woll is expected to return to the Leafs.
Once Woll returns to the Leafs, then the franchise will finally be able to split the time between the netminder and Anthony Stolarz.
With Stolarz struggling, this could very well give the Maple Leafs break up the workload, and get Stolarz back to his 2024-25 season form.
Tonight, the Leafs are set to play the Boston Bruins, and it appears as though Stolarz will be the one starting, although nothing is confirmed.
