When you think of modern-day NHL legends, Jonathan Toews is certainly one of them, thanks to his three Stanley Cup championships with the Chicago Blackhawks.

A couple of years ago, the future Hall of Famer left the game of hockey due to health complications. Just yesterday, it was revealed that Toews wants to make a comeback.

As of July 1st, he will be a free agent, and there are a whole lot of teams that would be interested. Even at 37 years old, teams understand what kind of value the forward brings.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are one of the teams interested in Toews. This makes a lot of sense when you consider how this Leafs team needs some Stanley Cup experience.

According to The Fourth Period, the Leafs have reached the next level with Jonathan Toews. Essentially, the major suitors for the forward are the Maple Leafs, the Winnipeg Jets, and the Colorado Avalanche.

These are all teams that can be Stanley Cup contenders under the right circumstances. However, there is no telling whether or not the Leafs can actually make a good enough case.

The Jets are likely to be the main frontrunners seeing as though Toews is from Winnipeg and would love to finish his career in his hometown.

Regardless, free agency is going to be very important for the Maple Leafs. This team wants to change its DNA, and the fans want some good news.
