Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving had been targeting Dartmouth College forward Luke Haymes and today, the team pulled the trigger.

Last week, the Toronto Maple Leafs beat out a bunch of NHL teams by revealing that they had signed Union College defenseman John Prokop.
He is a puck-moving defenseman which is something that the Maple Leafs need going forward if they want to contend for cups.
It was subsequently reported that the team would be going after another NCAA free agent in Luke Haymes who has been highly-touted by numerous teams around the league.

Luke Haymes coming to the Toronto Maple Leafs

Just moments ago, it was revealed that the Maple Leafs got their guy as Haymes was signed to a two-year deal that starts in the 2025-26 season.
Interestingly, Haymes will now get to play for the Toronto Marlies although he must pass an amateur tryout first.
The Toronto Maple Leafs announced today that the hockey club has signed centre Luke Haymes to a two-year contract beginning in the 2025-26 season. He will join the Toronto Marlies (AHL) for the remainder of the 2024-25 season on an amateur tryout.

Haymes, 21, has posted 18 points (12 goals, six assists) in 22 games with Dartmouth College (NCAA) in an injury-shortened season. The Ottawa, ON native has skated in 83 career NCAA games with Dartmouth posting 70 points (41 goals, 29 assists). The 6'1, 203-pound centre was named to the 2023-24 NCAA All-Ivy League First Team and the NCAA (ECAC) First All-Star Team while being selected as a New England All-Star that season. He was also named to the NCAA All-Ivy League Honorable Mention Team in 2022-23.
Either way, this is a huge get for the Toronto Maple Leafs who have been looking to add in any way possible.
Brad Treliving has been busy over the past month or so and while the results on the ice have proven shaky at times, the Leafs remain a well-oiled machine.
Hopefully, Haymes will prove himself and at the very least be a contributor on the Marlies next season.
If he makes his way onto the Maple Leafs roster, then even better.
