Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Matt Murray was injured in a game against the Belleville Senators on Saturday and it led the way for Dennis Hildeby to replace him.
Matt Murray was one of the most positive stories of the Toronto Maple Leafs season as he made a major comeback and was able to play in a couple of regular season games.
Unfortunately, the goalie was injured over the weekend in a game against the Belleville Senators, which the Marlies ended up winning by a score of 4-2.
This is all because of an incident in the first period involving Cole Reinhardt of the Senators. He paid zero mind to Murray who was playing the puck at the time and just casually ran him over.
While the goaltender was a warrior about it, it became clear that he wasn't going to be able to finish out the game, and he allowed Leafs rookie to take control of the game.
Unfortunately, there has been no status update on Murray, and it remains to be seen if he will able to return to the lineup this week.
Matt Murray is someone that the fans want to see succeed, and his various injury problems from the last couple of years have been tough to swallow.
Hopefully, this was just a minor setback and he is able to get back out onto the ice as quickly as possible. We are rooting for him and he deserves all of the success.
