Forward Dakota Joshua is now a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs; however, it was not an easy trade for Vancouver Canucks general manager Patrick Allvin to make.
Dakota Joshua trade rumors were running rampant this past week, and there were rumblings that the Toronto Maple Leafs could be interested in making something happen.
This trade comes after a difficult season for Joshua in which he battled cancer, won, and returned to play 57 games, where he had seven goals and seven assists.

He struggled last season, but for good reason. It is never easy to come back from cancer, and we're sure he had to deal with a mental toll as well.
In fact, after making the trade, Vancouver Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin spoke to the media, where he was quite emotional about having to part ways with Joshua.
Dakota [Joshua] went through a lot last season before the year even started & we were very impressed in how he handled such a difficult off-ice situation. Once healthy, he tried hard to help the team in many ways & we want to wish him the best moving forward
It remains to be seen where Joshua will slot in on the Maple Leafs' lineup, although it seems like the team is gearing up to put him on the third line.
He could play on the left wing with guys like
Nicolas Roy and
Bobby McMann, which would make for a solid third line.
However, we still haven't seen him in training camp and the preseason, which will likely go a long way in determining where he ends up next.
Hopefully, this is a move that pans out for the Leafs, who have been desperate to upgrade their bottom-six for a while.
