Don Cherry Makes Gut-Wrenching & Heartbreaking Announcement to the Hockey World

Love him or hate him, Don Cherry has made a huge impact on Hockey culture, and today, he made an announcement that will sadden fans around the world.
Years ago, Don Cherry was let go by Sportsnet, and since that time, he has been working on his own podcast called "Grapevine," which he hosts with his son Tim.
Overall, the podcast has been successful, and there have been over 300 episodes since it started. To this day, Cherry continues to give his controversial opinion.
While some fans have left him behind, others continue to tune in and take his opinion seriously. Unfortunately, some sad news was announced on today's podcast.
Don Cherry delivers sad announcement
According to Cherry himself, his most recent podcast was his last. In an emotional farewell, the former Coach's Corner host talked about all of the things he accomplished with his show.
However, at 91 years old and sounding frail, it is clear that Cherry did not have the ability to do the show at a high level anymore, hence his decision to call it quits.
How many podcasts have we done? This is our 313th, we've been listened to all around the world, and it's just amazing how many different countries, you know, people download and listen to it. We've had 6.5 million downloads, which is pretty good.
This is certainly sad news, and it should come as no surprise that the former TV host would want to call it a career at this stage of his life.
While Cherry will always be controversial, there are those who will always respect his contributions to the game of hockey. Meanwhile, Ron MacLean continues to host Hockey Night in Canada.
Only time will tell whether or not Don Cherry changes his mind or decides to do something next.
Whatever the case, he has fans who are going to remain loyal and follow him down his next path.
