Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Easton Cowan had himself a devastating shootout attempt in the World Juniors against Latvia, and now, he is speaking out on his behalf.
Easton Cowan has become a pariah of sorts following Team Canada's upsetting defeat at the hands of Latvia.
Easton Cowan takes accountability at the World Juniors for Team Canada
Below, you can see some of the harsh comments that were made towards the forward, who is still only a teenager.
Overall, it is clear that fans are angry about the loss to Latvia, although these kinds of reactions simply aren't healthy.
According to Mark Masters of TSN, Cowan has taken accountability for his play and is looking to improve as the tournament goes on.
"I know I can be better, especially on the power play. I know I'm way better than that. And 5-on-5 I know I can be better too. Yeah, I guess it starts with me being an older guy ... I feel like I can get to the middle of the ice more"
This is not the kind of bounce-back game fans were hoping for, especially when you consider how, like Latvia, Germany is an inferior squad at every single position.
It seems as though one of the biggest issues here is the fact that Easton Cowan refuses to pass the puck.
Fans have taken notice of this, and it has certainly disrupted the Team Canada offense.
Hopefully, Cowan can figure it out along with the rest of his teammates because fans will not tolerate another Quarter-Finals exit.
