Easton Cowan trashed on social media over horrific World Juniors performance...again

Team Canada got destroyed by Team USA at the World Juniors on New Year's Eve and once again, Easton Cowan was looking pretty bad through most of the game.
The Toronto Maple Leafs prospect was the talk of the internet just last week after a terrible shootout attempt that ultimately led to Canada's loss against Latvia.
Cowan immediately took responsibility for the move, although it seems like the internet will not be letting up, anytime soon.

Easton Cowan had a shot at redemption against Canada's biggest rival, however, his play continued to be lackluster.
He took a bad penalty that ultimately led to an American goal, and for most of the night, the London Knights forward continued to play selfishly.
A huge knock against Cowan so far has been his propensity to try and be the hero in every single play.
He rarely passes the puck, and now, a lot of fans are becoming completely fed up with the kid's schtick.

Below, you can see a plethora of comments on Cowan's play, which are less than complimentary of the young kid.
Needless to say, social media can be an extremely cruel place.
One has to wonder why Easton Cowan gets so much flack compared to his counterparts.
Perhaps it has to do with the fact that he is a prospect of the Toronto Maple Leafs, who are largely hated outside of Toronto.
Or maybe, fans are just disappointed that such a highly-touted player is having such a bad tournament.
Either way, Team Canada will play the Czech Republic in the Quarter Finals, and fans are expecting the team to perform.
