Sidney Crosby Breaks One of Wayne Gretzky's Most Unfathomable Records

When you think of the biggest class acts in the National Hockey League, you immediately think of guys like Sidney Crosby.

He has been an amazing ambassador for the sport over the years and in his 20th NHL season, he continues to show fans that he can produce at a high level even if his team could be better.

While Alexander Ovechkin chases down the all-time goals record, Crosby was able to chase down a record of his own tonight. In fact, this is a record based on pure longevity.

In a game against the Buffalo Sabres, Crosby scored a goal and was able to ensure that this season, he would finish with a point per game.

Shockingly, this is his 20th season with a point per game pace which is an all-time NHL record. Prior to this, Gretzky had 19 such seasons.

While Sidney Crosby is 1200 points away from Gretzky, this is still a cool to record to hang your hat on and just soak in. Crosby still has some good years left and it's cool to see him do this.

One has to wonder how much longer Crosby will play and if it's possible for him to hit the 2,000 point mark.

While that is a lofty goal, it is something he could accomplish if he really put his mind to it and decided to stay in good condition like Jaromir Jagr or Patrick Marleau.

Crosby will likely finish his career top five in NHL points and that is going to be a special achievement.

We're sure at some point he will surpass Mario Lemieux which could very well be one of the best moments of his career.
