Toronto Maple Leafs forward Max Pacioretty has been dealing with injury problems all season, although Craig Berube just came through with a very positive update.
When
Max Pacioretty was signed in the offseason by the Toronto Maple Leafs, the franchise knew that he was injury prone and that it wasn't a full-on certainty that he was going to play the entire season.
The 36-year-old has only played in 37 games this season where he has managed five goals and 13 points which isn't exactly setting the world on fire.
Is Max Pacioretty playing in the postseason for the Toronto Maple Leafs?
According to Luke Fox of The Athletic, Craig Berube was asked about Pacioretty's status and whether or not there are plans to play him come playoff time.
Based on the response, it seems very likely that the veteran could be back in time for elimination games.
How confident is Craig Berube that Max Pacioretty will play playoff games for the Maple Leafs?
Big, sly smile: «Pretty confident.»
One has to wonder whether or not there is even any space left for Pacioretty at this point when you consider his injury issues and the fact that the lineup has been just fine without him.
Putting Pacioretty back on the second line with guys like
William Nylander and
John Tavares could break chemistry, which is something to consider.
Only time will tell whether or not the veteran actually does come back to make an impact with this team. Leafs Nation is rooting for him.
