Anthony Stolarz had a phenomenal season with the Toronto Maple Leafs, and with a potential contract extension on the horizon, he could be in for a huge payday.

Last season, the Toronto Maple Leafs were able to strike gold when it came to their goaltending. Anthony Stolarz and Joseph Woll made for an incredible tandem, and Stolarz was a revelation.
He had a record of 21-8-3 with a 2.14 GAA, a .914 SV%, and 4 shutouts. These statistics are incredible, and had it not been for his playoff injury, the Leafs could have made the Stanley Cup Finals.
However, he was only signed to a two-year deal worth $5 million. He is making $2.5 million next season, and he will be looking for some security in the form of a contract extension.

Anthony Stolarz contract extension

Carter Hutton, a former NHL goalie, was on 'Leafs Morning Take' recently, where he made a prediction about how much Stolarz could fetch on an extension.
Hutton firmly believes Stolarz's next AAV could be upwards of $6 million. This would be a lot of money for the 31-year-old, especially with Joseph Woll under contract, as well.
I think it's gotta start with a 6, it's gotta start with a 6. When I look at Kevin Lankinen, when I look at Karel Vejmelka's deal, I look at some of these guys. Yes, there's always this age difference, right? But when you look at two consistent years of being really good...
$6 million seems like a steep number, especially since the Leafs don't actually know what they want to do with their goaltending situation yet.
They may just decide that this isn't worth it, and that they want to trade Stolarz mid-season, so that Joseph Woll can shine. Or, Woll may have to be the victim of a trade.
Whatever the case may be, there are a lot of considerations that the Toronto Maple Leafs have to make right now, and they are pretty dire.
Only time will tell how general manager Brad Treliving navigates all of this as free agency officially begins on July 1st.
