Auston Matthews hits the Toronto Maple Leafs with more bad news
Toronto Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews has been through a whole lot to start the season, including an upper-body injury that has plagued him.
Ironically, the Leafs have won all three of the games he has missed. These matches were against teams like the Boston Bruins, Detroit Red Wings, and the Montreal Canadiens.
Okay, sure. The Leafs didn't beat the Florida Panthers or anything like that. But they have still been impressive in their captain's absence.
Unfortunately, it would appear as though we will not be seeing Matthews back in the lineup particularly soon. According to Dave McCarthy, he did participate at practice.
Auston Matthews is still not at practice
"Auston Matthews NOT on the ice as full practice convenes.
Has missed three games with an upper body injury."
It was revealed today that he would be week-to-week moving forward with a lower-body injury.
Of course, the Leafs are still rolling right now, so the injuries are something that the fans are not too concerned about. At a record of 9-5-2, there is no doubt that this team has some wiggle room.
However, getting the captain back would do wonders for the locker room and just morale in general.
Only time will tell whether or not the Maple Leafs can show the NHL that they really are a team to watch, moving forward.
