Toronto Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews is ready for a deep run in the NHL Playoffs and as it turns out, so is the city that he has called home since the draft.
Auston Matthews had a solid season with the Toronto Maple Leafs as he got himself 33 goals and 78 points in 67 games.
Overall, it was a tough season for Matthews as he missed 15 games due to a nagging injury. In fact, this is an injury that made it difficult for him to perform to the best of his abilities.
Auston Matthews on the NHL Playoffs
Tomorrow night, the Maple Leafs will play against the Ottawa Senators in Game 1 of their first round series. This is going to be the most compelling series of the first round.
Heading into the series, the vibes in Toronto have been sensational as fans are eager to watch the Leafs get things going.
As for Auston Matthews, he is aware of the vibes and even joked that the traffic in the city is about to be truly atrocious.
«Weather starts to get nicer more people outside. Traffic gets worse.»
At the end of the day, you are measured based on what you accomplish in the post season and the Leafs have not done enough on that front.
Hopefully, this is the year where they are able to change that. The East is wide open so if were ever to happen, it would absolutely be right now.
A Leafs championship would turn this city into a permanent party and it is something you cannot help but fantasize about.
