With
Morgan Rielly struggling on the offensive and defensive ends of the ice, there has been a ton of chatter about what his future in Toronto might look like.
Although he has a no-movement clause, there are some who believe the Maple Leafs should consider asking him to waive it so that they can give the man a change of scenery.
One Twitter user came up with a Rielly trade that would see him go to the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for
Erik Karlsson.
The Penguins are having a firesale and Karlsson is reportedly up for grabs. Not to mention, Kyle Dubas knows Morgan Rielly quite well.
While this is definitely an interesting proposal, it is by no means a popular one either.
Despite Karlsson's 32 points, there are some who feel his issues are very similar to Rielly's.
The biggest issue here is the cap hit as Karlsson makes $2.5 million more per season. Not to mention, he is 34 and Rielly is 30.
There are a ton of factors at play here that would make Brad Treliving shudder at the idea of ever making a trade like this happen.
With the trade deadline coming up, it is going to be very interesting to see what the Leafs decide to do here.
