Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving has put out an official statement following the tragic death of the franchise's former President, Ken Dryden.

Sad news struck the hockey world last night as legendary goaltender Ken Dryden, passed away at the age of 78 following a battle with cancer.
Overall, Dryden is one of the most respected players in the history of the game, and for good reason when you think about all the things he accomplished.
He is a player who took his job very seriously, and he always loved to do right by his fellow Canadians, as proven by his political career.

Brad Treliving on the death of Ken Dryden

For seven years, Ken Dryden served as President of the Toronto Maple Leafs, and during those years, the Leafs made the Eastern Conference Finals twice.
Due to his connections to the Leafs franchise, general manager Brad Treliving put out a statement about Dryden and what he means to the franchise.
Overall, it was a wonderful statement that showcases just how loved Dryden was.
We are deeply saddened by the passing of Ken Dryden. One of the game's giants, Ken was the backbone of the Canadiens' dynasty in the 1970s, a Hall of Fame goaltender who captured multiple Stanley Cups and set a standard of excellence at his position.

Later, Ken brought his leadership and vision to the Toronto Maple Leafs, serving as team president from 1997 to 2003 and remaining with the club until 2004. His influence on our organization, on the game of hockey, and on Canadian life was profound and enduring.

On behalf of the Maple Leafs, I extend our condolences to Ken's family, friends, and to the countless people he inspired through his remarkable life.

Dryden's legacy will forever live on in the hockey world, and there is no denying this is a huge loss for the sport.
Our condolences go out to Dryden's family during this difficult time.
RIP Ken Dryden.
