Brad Treliving Ripped Apart by Maple Leafs Fans After Fumbling JJ Peterka Trade

Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving has missed out on yet another trade, this time for winger JJ Peterka, who had an incredible season last year.
23-year-old winger JJ Peterka was sensational with the Buffalo Sabres last season as he had 27 goals and 68 points in 77 games. He was a breakout star and still has room to get better.
However, with the Sabres looking to retool, they ultimately decided that it would be best to move from Peterka, which came as a surprise to a lot of people.
Last night, the Sabres and Utah Mammoth agreed to a trade involving Peterka. The Mammoth got the winger, while Buffalo got Josh Doan and Michael Kesselring in return.
It was a great trade for both sides, although Toronto Maple Leafs fans felt cheated. Peterka could have been a replacement for Mitch Marner, and the Leafs had a much better package they could have offered.
Toronto Maple Leafs miss out on JJ Peterka
According to James Mirtle of The Athletic, the Maple Leafs were, indeed, interested in trading for Peterka. The team kicked tires on it and considered an offer.
However, they opted not to do it, which could go down as a huge mistake, especially considering what Peterka could become over the coming years.
The Leafs could have offered Brandon Carlo and Nick Robertson. This would have been a much better offer, but instead, they decided to be conservative.
Fans are not happy about this, as Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving was ripped to shreds by fans online. Clearly, Leafs supporters feel as though the team is falling behind, and fast.
At this stage, it would appear as though Treliving is more focused on guys like John Tavares and Matthew Knies, which makes a lot of sense.
Regardless, the fans would like to see some good news, and Treliving is making them wait for it.
