Brandon Tanev Hints at His Intentions with the Toronto Maple Leafs

Earlier this season, Brandon Tanev was touted as someone who could end up being traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs. However, he went from the Seattle Kraken to the Winnipeg Jets instead.

During the regular season, he had 10 goals and 22 points in 79 games. Meanwhile, he had zero points in 13 playoff games, which is abysmal.

However, there are rumblings that the Leafs would be interested in acquiring him in free agency, seeing as though his brother Chris Tanev is on the team.

Interestingly enough, a Toronto Maple Leafs fan recently spotted Brandon Tanev at Kasa Moto, and it led to a conversation about free agency.

The fan claims they told Tanev to sign with the Leafs, and that it would be great to have him on the team with his brother. The fan went on to say that he got the vibe that something was brewing.

In fact, they furthered things along by echoing Tanev's exact words, which were "well we'll see in a couple weeks..." This is very interesting phrasing, and we are curious to see how things might play out.

Tanev's career-high in points came in 2022-23 with the Seattle Kraken when he had 16 goals and 35 points. With that in mind, the Leafs should only sign him to a small deal.

However, the forward would be great on the fourth line. Offensively, he is an upgrade from a guy like Calle Jarnkrok or even David Kampf.

That said, there will be a few teams looking for Tanev's services in a few weeks from now, and the Maple Leafs cannot get ahead of themselves.

Leafs general manager Brad Treliving has a lot to figure out right now, and this offseason is more important than ever before.
