Canadian Owner Protests Gary Bettman Over Ridiculous NHL Draft Decision

The NHL tried out a Decentralized Draft this past season, and it turned out to be a controversial decision that has drawn the ire of hockey fans around the world.
If you are an NHL fan, there is no doubt that you had an opinion on the Decentralized Draft, which was a bit of a risk by the NHL.
The first round was an unmitigated disaster as it took hours to complete, for no good reason at all.
This had many assuming that the NHL owners would vote to go back to the old format. However, this was not the case.
NHL to bring back the decentralized draft
According to Darren Dreger of TSN, the owners voted to bring back the Decentralized Draft. Of course, the only stipulation is that they make the first round faster.
Reporting on this only because I'm a bit surprised by the outcome. Expect the NHL to give the Decentralized Draft model another try next year. Strong majority of GM's voted in favour of the new status quo with some potential production tweaks to move the 1st round along.
However, Ottawa Senators owner Michael Andlauer is not happy about this. He is protesting the move, noting that it only benefits the host city.
The #Sens weren't in favour of this. Michael Andlauer believes the picture on stage in the jersey is an important moment for the players. The cost of the draft is the reason it's staying this way. Only the host city benefits.
Ultimately, the NHL is not going to care about the musings of one specific owner.
The majority has spoken, and that is where things are going to start and stop.
Only time will tell whether or not the Decentralized Draft is here to stay for years to come.
