On Sunday night, Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Charles Alexis Legault suffered a horrific injury after he hurt his hand on the skate blade of Nick Robertson.
Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Charles Alexis Legault found himself in a very worrisome position on Sunday night after getting into a fight with
Bobby McMann.
Many fans noticed that the ice was completely covered in blood. It was disgusting to look at, and many were confused as to what happened.
After all, his fight with McMann wasn't all that bad. Some punches were thrown, but nothing that would have drawn such an obscene amount of blood.
Well, as it turns out, it's all because Legault fell on
Nick Robertson's skate, which was pointed upwards near the vicinity of the tilt.

Unfortunately, for Legault, the injury was very serious, and it required surgery. According to Mark Masters, both the diagnosis and prognosis are pretty gnarly.

He's expected to miss three to four months
At the end of the day, this is just more proof that the NHL officials need to do a better job of clearing bodies out before letting guys fight.
When guys are on the ground and exposed, they are at risk of being injured themselves or getting harmed by others, and that is simply not okay.
Only time will tell whether or not the league takes action, or just chalks this up as a freak accident that doesn't have much of a chance of happening again.
Whatever the case may be, we are hoping for a quick recovery from Legault. You never want to see stuff like this.
