Chris Pronger Slaps Mitch Marner with a Harsh Reality that Maple Leafs Fans will Agree With

Mitch Marner is now a member of the Las Vegas Golden Knights, although NHL legend Chris Pronger isn't so sure it makes that much of a difference.
The huge knock against Mitch Marner for years has been his lack of production whenever it comes time for the playoffs.
Overall, he has not been a great postseason player, and this has made Maple Leafs fans turn against him. It is this pressure that made the forward want to leave, in the first place.
However, there is this assumption that the Golden Knights will provide a more welcoming place for Marner to fail in the playoffs.
This is simply not true, as the Golden Knights are a franchise used to winning. They won a Cup two years ago and made the Finals in their first season.

During the latest episode of the Daily Faceoff Rundown, Chris Pronger even noted how a change of scenery probably doesn't mean much for Mitch.
The Golden Knights are paying him for playoff results, and his performances have not been good enough over the years. Not to mention, his frame is not condusive to playoff hockey.
I don't want to discount his ability to get 100 points because it's not easy. His inability to produce in the playoffs is a concern, because at the end of the day, that is what he is being signed for. Whether he wasn't used properly, surrounded by the right players. He's a smaller player. He's not going to get on the inside in the playoffs and that's where all the goals are scored. You cannot be a perimeter player in the playoffs and expect to be productive. It just doesn't work that way. You have to be willing to take some punishment. You have to be willing to get to the inside and fight and scratch and claw to get to loose pucks in and around the net to score goals.
At the end of the day, Mitch Marner is someone that the fans have been quite harsh towards over the years.
The same can be said of hockey pundits who are paid to talk about the game. However, they all say the same thing, and that is a story in and of itself.
Only time will tell whether or not Mitch Marner can overcome these narratives.
