Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Chris Tanev is about to break a truly impressive franchise record but he doesn't seem too stoked about it.
When Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving brought in
Chris Tanev during the summer, it was clear that he was going to be a stud for this team's blue line.
For years, he has been heralded as one of those defenseman who is always responsible with his job and never makes bad mistakes when they count the most.
Chris Tanev set to make Toronto Maple Leafs history
In fact, Tanev has come as advertised this season and his +27 net rating his certainly a fantastic example of how this has been the case.
Moreover, he is on the verge of breaking the franchise's single-season blocked shot record. He just needs one more to do it which is very impressive and it is highly likely he does it tonight.
However, when asked about potentially breaking the record, he admitted that he had no clue about it. Furthermore, he simply does not care about it.
«I did not know that. It is what is. I really don't care."
With the playoffs on the horizon, there are other things on Tanev's mind, and you have to be impressed with his dedication to his craft.
Tonight, the Maple Leafs take on the Columbus Blue Jackets and it should prove to be a fantastic game, especially with the Jackets having the Leafs' number over the course of this season.
This is the time for the Leafs to show that they can be the better team, and we believe they will do it, especially with how they have played as of late.
The playoffs are on the horizon and now is the time for the Leafs to slay the Dragons they have been unable to conquer in the regular season.
