Chris Tanev Makes a Ridiculously Tone Deaf Statement After Horrific Loss to the Ottawa Senators

Chris Tanev was easily the best signing the Toronto Maple Leafs could have made during the offseason. He has been the team's best defenseman and that is not an exaggeration.

However, over the past couple of games, Tanev and the rest of the Maple Leafs back end have struggled against the Ottawa Senators.

After going up 3-0 in their NHL Playoffs series, the Leafs have lost two in a row and now, Game 6 is going back to Ottawa with Leafs fans frightened about what is going to happen next.

After the game, numerous Leafs players spoke to the media about Game 5 and how they are feeling after giving up what should be a sure victory.

Tanev's comments were particularly worrisome as he acted as though everything is fine. Clearly, he forgot that he plays for the Toronto Maple Leafs, a team that has been known to be playoff chokers.

Ultimately, the Toronto Maple Leafs are still very much in this as they can win Game 6 and finish the series in Ottawa.

However, if you are a fan, you can't help but be at least a little but worried about the outcome of this series right now. The Leafs are known for choking and that is what they are doing right now.

That said, each game is a new opportunity to secure a win and that is how the team must operate going forward here.

Otherwise, they will find themselves out of the playoffs and in embarrassing circumstances. If the core four want to stay together, they must win this series.
