Next Summer is going to be fascinating if Connor McDavid doesn't sign a contract extension with the Edmonton Oilers.
Every team in the NHL will be attempting to sign the superstar forward, includin the Toronto Maple Leafs, who remain one of the marquee teams in the league.
As it turns out, the Leafs could be one of McDavid's favorites. Why? Well, the Leafs were McDavid's childhood team as he grew up in Ontario.

In fact, an old interview from 2015 is going viral, and it showcases just how much McDavid loves the Toronto Maple Leafs franchise.

That would be an absolute dream come true. It's pretty crazy to even think about. I'm from Toronto. You have to be a Leafs fan. So, of course, I was. Of course. My dad was a Leafs fan. Every Saturday night watching Hockey Night in Canada would be my favourite time.
As a player without a Stanley Cup, he would face tremendous pressure anywhere he goes. Although that is especially true in Toronto. Thankfully, he seems to respect the responsibility.
Listen, if a team could ever win in Toronto, it would be unbelievable. Whoever won would have the key to the city. It would be something that people would never forget. So, playing in a place like that, it has its perks and it has its downfalls. But it's one of the best places in the league.
If you are a Toronto Maple Leafs fan, the prospect of landing someone like McDavid is probably making you giddy with excitement.
Having said that, it's probably best for everyone to just exercise patience, and not get ahead of yourself.
