Controversial Toronto Maple Leafs Reporter Claims the Team is Going to Disappoint at the Trade Deadline

The Toronto Maple Leafs have made their trade deadline plans crystal clear, however, there is one reporter who isn't so sure they will be able to get anything done.
Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving is angling to acquire a center during the trade deadline, although it is going to be easier said than done.
In fact, one reporter believes the team simply does not have the pieces to reasonably acquire anyone of note.
Steve Simmons has no faith in the Toronto Maple Leafs
During a recent report from controversial reporter Steve Simmons, it was noted that the Leafs don't have any pieces that teams would actually want.
"Almost every day in the Big Smoke, I hear rumblings about a centre the Leafs will be acquiring near the trade deadline. The question from the other side: What do they have to offer that anybody wants?"
Simmons went on to say that even Fraser Minten and Easton Cowan aren't enticing enough for prospective teams.
Meanwhile, the team is also missing the draft capital required to get a player like Brock Nelson or even Yanni Gourde.
"They don't have a first-round pick this year? Their best prospects - defenceman Ben Danford, forwards Easton Cowan and Fraser Minten - may not be all that coveted. To pick up a Ryan O'Reilly or a Brock Nelson, they need to have something a rebuilding team would want. GM Brad Treliving has his work cut out for him here."
Simmons has always been a pessimist of sorts so this should not come as a surprise, whatsoever.
Having said that, one has to wonder whether or not he is right about all of this. He makes an interesting point and the Leafs fans should prepare for disappointment, even if only to protect their spirit.
Hopefully, Treliving is able to surprise people and work some magic on the phones in a few weeks from now.
