New head coach Craig Berube is looking to right the team's wrongs come playoff time but that is going to be a whole lot easier said than done at this point.
The Leafs have gone through a lot of hardship over the years and it always feels like teams raise their compete level when they play the blue and white.
In fact, Berube acknowledges this, claiming that the Leafs have a huge target on their back every single night.
«I feel like the Toronto Maple Leafs have a target on them every night. We don't get an easy game, it seems like, especially at home. I mean, these teams all come into Toronto, and a lot of the players are from here, with family and all that, so they get fired up and geared up to play us. I find it's a tough night every night with the Leafs.»

Although there is no concrete evidence of this phenomenon, one can just look at the results to notice that even the bad teams get up to play the Leafs.
It is one of those harsh realities that you just have to reckon with, even if it is very difficult to do so sometimes.
