Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube watched his team lay an egg in a big game and players like Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner are under the microscope.
A win could have put this team in first place in the Atlantic Division but now, they are in a four-point deficit with out a handful of games left.
Craig Berube tells the truth about the Toronto Maple Leafs
He mostly took aim at the power play which once again, has been a struggle throughout the season.
Of course, the power play contains guys like Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner, which goes to show that Berube was challenging his superstars to be better.
"It was a good battle. Five-on-five I thought a pretty even game. I liked our third period a lot. Difference is they score two power play goals and we didn't capitalize on our PP... I thought our checking was good, and we did a lot of good things. You always want to be better; we've got to push through this."
Things have gotten to an uncomfortable place for the Maple Leafs especially as we approach the last stretch of the season.
If the Leafs cannot play better against the best teams in the league, than they have absolutely no chance of making it far in the postseason.
It is a harsh reality for sure but it is one that the Maple Leafs are going to have to come to grips with. Every single player needs to look inward and be better.
