Toronto Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews was invisible against the Florida Panthers last night and fans are starting to get absolutely fed up with him.
Auston Matthews has been dealing with an injury all season long and that has been acknowledged by insiders as well as various reporters around the team.
In fact, we reported yesterday about how the captain was not close to 100 percent and that he still had a lot of work to do before he got there.

Last night, the Leafs played the Florida Panthers in a game that could have catapulted the team into first place in the Atlantic Division.
In the end, Toronto lost by a score of 3-2 and Matthews was nowhere to be found as he had zero points and three shots on goal.
Fans were absolutely livid with him after the game and the comments on social media are a reflection of just how angry people are with the captain right now.

It's insane to me that it's just not a mainstream narrative that Auston Matthews scores like once every ten games now. Like that's just normal and we don't care and we think the leafs will be fine like this.
Auston Matthews has to offer more than he is right now. If this is how he's going to play for the rest of the season they should have put him on LTIR and used that money for something. Its not like he'd do less on LTIR than he is right now. This is pathetic. #LeafsForever

It's true. Matthews has not been his usual self and 23 goals in 50 games is certainly an anomaly when you consider what he has done in the past.
Moving forward, the Maple Leafs have a real decision to make as it pertains to whether or not they should sit their captain.
For the betterment of the team, it might be the right thing to do as you need Auston Matthews at 100 percent in the playoffs.
