Craig Berube gets brutally honest about Auston Matthews' retutrn to the lineup
Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube recently spoke about Auston Matthews' return to the team, which has been up and down.
In the previous game on Saturday night against the Tampa Bay Lightning, Matthews had two assists, which was yet another demonstration of just how good he is.
Having said that, he is still not all the way back to being assimilated with the team, even if it appears as though he is.
Craig Berube gives his take on Auston Matthews
As Berube notes, Matthews is not all the way there yet when it comes to his speed and his overall pace.
However, he knows that Matthews will figure it out and get there eventually. After all, he is one of the best players in the world.
He is not up to speed yet for sure, and we all know that, but it was a big goal for him. It is going to take time - practice time, which is going to be difficult with the schedule - but he is working at it. He will get there. I have no worries about it. He will get there.
Prior to Matthews getting back into the Maple Leafs lineup, the team had won seven out of nine games.
Now that he is back, the Maple Leafs have won two in a row and they are certainly feeling good about themselves, especially as more injured players work their way into the lineup.
Berube has this team playing good hockey, and there is a real belief that the Leafs could be a problem when the playoffs come around.
