The Toronto Maple Leafs have had their fair share of NHL Playoff failures and head coach Craig Berube is certainly sympathetic to this. He kind of has to be.
Craig Berube and the
Toronto Maple Leafs are currently preparing themselves for what could be the final game in their series against the Ottawa Senators.
This is not what the Leafs would like to see and they will be motivated to make sure that they have a phenomenal game and end the series tonight on home ice.
Craig Berube speaks ahead of Game 5
With an important game just hours away, head coach Craig Berube spoke about his team's mentality with the media.
In fact, his comments are a nice little vibe check that lets fans know exactly how this team is feeling going into what should be their most important game of the season so far.
»We're ready to go. The guys feel good and are anxious to play. It's not until tonight, but they're ready We want to close it out as quickly as we can. We wanted to close it out in Game 4, but it didn't happen. We're not going to sit here and focus on the closeout - we're going to focus on what we need to do to get it done.»
Ultimately, the Toronto Maple Leafs have looked good in this series. Even the game they lost, they were pressing hard and really showcasing some tenacity.
If the Leafs can find a way to weather the storm in the first period and perhaps jump out to an early lead, then this series will be over.
However, going back to Ottawa for Game 6 should be seen as a failure and this is when fans will certainly begin to panic.
Hopefully, the Leafs franchise and the fans get the outcome they want. Otherwise, it will be a long couple of days until Thursday.
