Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube was not happy last night as his team blew a 4-2 lead to the Carolina Hurricanes in what was a truly terrible loss.
The
Toronto Maple Leafs have been abysmal of late, especially with their loss against the Boston Bruins and their catastrophic outing against the Carolina Hurricanes.
Things are not looking good, especially not with a record of 8-7-1, which is not going to be good enough to make it into the postseason.
Craig Berube is upset with the Toronto Maple Leafs
After last night's blown lead against the Hurricanes, Berube made sure to call out his team for the horrible performance they put up.
He said that the team could not win a single puck battle and that turnovers are what ultimately did the team in by the end of the match.
Turnover after turnover cost us the game tonight. We didn't check anybody tonight. We didn't win any battles tonight. It's two games in a row.
Berube then went on to say that the real issue this season is the team's defense. The team is not keeping pucks out of the net, and that will make things worse every single time.
We're scoring enough goals every game to win, but we're letting in too many goals. So, pretty much the season is we don't value the defensive side of the puck enough
Overall, the Toronto Maple Leafs need to figure this out sooner rather than later. If they don't, then this team could fall deeper into the depths of the Atlantic Division.
Teams like the Montreal Canadiens and Detroit Red Wings are passing them by. By all accounts, that is a disastrous way to begin the season.
