Yesterday, the Toronto Maple Leafs decided that Easton Cowan would not be making the opening night roster, although, according to Craig Berube, there is a plan.
With an injury to
Scott Laughton plaguing the team, the coaching staff and the front office felt like it was better to have Cowan start the season with the Toronto Marlies.
During the first few games of the season, the prospect will be able to watch the Leafs from the press box, and it is here where he will be able to take in a lot of knowledge.
Having said that, it is still disappointing that the rookie will not be playing on Wednesday night, given just how well he played in the preseason.
What's next for Easton Cowan
Thankfully, there does seem to be something to look forward to for Maple Leafs fans out there. Earlier today, head coach Craig Berube spoke to the media, where he was honest about the path forward for Cowan.
As it turns out, the Maple Leafs are very keen on giving Cowan an opportunity, and they have a concrete plan in place for him.
We have a plan for him. That's all I'm going to say. (Opportunity) can present itself. He's a player that can help the Leafs.
If you are a fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, then there is no denying that the Cowan situation is one to keep tabs on over the coming days and weeks.
There is a realistic chance he still gets to play soon, which is a very exciting prospect for all of Leafs Nation.
The Maple Leafs start their season tomorrow night against the Montreal Canadiens, and there is no guarantee that the team is truly ready for this one.
Regardless, we are very much eager for the season to get under way as the last few months have been relentlessly boring.
