Toronto Maple Leafs forward Easton Cowan is having an up-and-down start to his NHL career, although he appears to be making strides every single game.

Easton Cowan is the player who is at the top of everyone's mind right now. Overall, he has been fantastic with the Toronto Maple Leafs to start the season.
He has three assists in six games, and while he is still looking for that first-career NHL goal, it remains clear that something good is coming.
Cowan is currently on the third line, and while it is a demotion from the first line, there is no denying that he has been a benefit to every line he's been on so far.
In fact, the forward is now garnering comparisons to a former Toronto Maple Leafs forward who once had a career-year with the team, notching 63 points in 79 games.

Easton Cowan draws comparisons to Michael Bunting

That player is Michael Bunting. While Bunting has fallen off while playing with weaker teams, it appears as though Cowan has a similar skill set, but in a more refined way.
Cowan is just a more well rounded, higher upside Bunting. 6 games into his career but he just seems to know how to compliment skilled players. Not afraid of the boards or battling in front of the net and love the back to the bench shots he has no issues giving to the other team.
Some fans are a bit frustrated with the lack of playing time he has received from head coach Craig Berube. Although that's going to happen to rookies sometimes.
Tonight, against the Calgary Flames, Easton Cowan is expected to be in the lineup, which is great news for the fans out there.
He will be playing on the third line with Dakota Joshua and Nicholas Roy. Joshua has two goals in the last two games, and Cowan is certainly making him a better player.
Only time will tell whether or not Cowan can help the Leafs get a huge win against the Flames tonight, as the team tries to get back above .500.
