Easton Cowan's Latest Comments Make it Clear He's Happy Mitch Marner is Gone

Easton Cowan is trying to make the Toronto Maple Leafs this upcoming season, and there has been a lot of talk about whether or not he will be able to do that.

After all, there are a ton of young guys who would love a spot on the team. However, with the season Cowan just had with the London Knights, it is hard to imagine him not making the roster.

Not to mention, with Mitch Marner leaving the franchise, there is now an extra forward spot that has opened up, and it's for the taking.

In fact, Cowan seems to be acutely aware of this. So much so that he is not hiding his happiness when broached on the subject. While speaking to reporters, he was asked about Marner's departure.

The kid noted that Marner's mentorship meant a lot to him. However, interestingly enough, he also acknowledged how this opens up opportunities for other guys.

The "other guys" in question are him directly. Cowan could be a superstar, and he has every right to try and become one.

If he were to make the team next season, it would be very exciting, and we would love to see what he could do in his rookie campaign.

Furthermore, we're sure head coach Craig Berube would absolutely love a new, young player whom he could help mould into a star.

While it sucks to see Marner go, there is no denying that it is great to see Cowan get the biggest opportunity of his career.
