Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Easton Cowan has been playing with Team Canada ahead of the World Juniors, and it seems clear he is destined for stardom.
This season, Easton Cowan has been tearing it up with the London Knights, and when he is healthy, the kid is breaking records and carrying his team to wins.
Easton Cowan is lighting the lamp for Team Canada
Now, Cowan is being tasked with being the leader for Team Canada as they embark on their World Juniors journey, starting this Thursday.
It is expected that the Maple Leafs prospect will be on the top line for Canada and that he will have a huge role with this squad.
So far, Cowan has been playing well during the team's pre-tournament outings. In fact, these performances could be a sign that the Maple Leafs have a future star on their hands.
Firstly, Cowan scored a hat trick against Switzerland a few days ago. Meanwhile, against Sweden, he got a goal and an assist in yet another Team Canada win.
Of course, the pre-tournament games and the tournament itself are very different as teams may not be putting their best foot forward the entire way.
However, Cowan has been absolutely sensational so far, and that should be all that matters at this juncture.
Maple Leafs fans should definitely go and watch the World Juniors this year, as this could be a preview of things to come.
Moreover, the Czech Republic will feature another Leafs prospect in Miroslav Holinka, although he isn't expected to be as big of a factor.
Whatever the case may be, the Maple Leafs future is looking bright and we are excited for Cowan to be a part of it.
