Elliotte Friedman Confirms Frontrunner to Land Mitch Marner During Free Agency

Mitch Marner continues to be the belle of the ball in free agency, and while July 1st hasn't hit yet, there are still plenty of rumors about where the forward is going next.

The superstar winger has a pretty extensive free agency wish list, and it includes teams like the Los Angeles Kings, Florida Panthers, and Dallas Stars.

With a week to go before July 1st, Leafs fans are paying attention to the Marner sweepstakes, and the same can be said about fans all around the league.

Interestingly enough, Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman spoke about the Mitch Marner situation on '32 Thoughts' today. It was here that he revealed the frontrunner to sign the forward.

As of right now, he believes the frontrunner for the winger is the Las Vegas Golden Knights. In fact, many teams are looking to Vegas to see what kind of offer they put in.

Ever since the offseason started for the Maple Leafs, the Golden Knights have been one of the most talked-about teams in regards to the Marner situation.

They are near the top of his wishlist, and they are the type of franchise to swing for the fences in order to get top-tier talent.

While the team would have to clear out some cap space for Mitch Marner, they appear to be willing to do just that. As for the dollar amount they would offer, we can't see them going above $13 million per season.

Either way, next week is going to be a lot of fun. For Leafs fans, it might be torturous. But for others, this is going to be an offseason to remember.
