One of the best offensive defensemen of the last decade is easily Erik Karlsson. Overall, he's still got a scoring touch, even at 35 years old.
However, he is stuck on the Pittsburgh Penguins, a struggling team that hasn't been able to make the playoffs in a couple of seasons.
General Manager Kyle Dubas is interested in a potential rebuild, and that means Karlsson and his $10 million cap hit are currently on the trading block.
Are the Toronto Maple Leafs actually trading for Erik Karlsson?
On the latest episode of
'Leafs Morning Take,' David Pagnotta poured some cold water on that theory, noting he has not heard much regarding Karlsson.
On Leafs Morning Take, David Pagnotta says he hasn't heard anything regarding Erik Karlsson and the Leafs
He's also led to believe there was brief discussion with Morgan Rielly at the exit meetings regarding his NMC. He doesn't know where that conversation went though
Furthermore, it does not seem as though Morgan Rielly wants to waive his no-move clause. At the end of the day, he would prefer to stay in Toronto.
Treliving is making moves, and he is also giving the team a lot more salary cap to work with.
