Mitch Marner and the Toronto Maple Leafs are not going to negotiate a new contract until after the season, which is certainly an anxiety-inducing situation to be in.
John Buccigross pleads with Mitch Marner
Unfortunately for the Leafs, there are lots of people out there campaigning for Marner to find a new NHL home. Whether that be Chicago or Utah, there are teams that are interested.
When it comes to ESPN personality John Buccigross, it would appear as though he wants the forward to come on down to the West Coast where he can live in relative paradise.
The team?
The San Jose Sharks. During a win against
the Boston Bruins over the weekend, Buccigross decided to wave the flag for the team, alerting Marner to the opportunities that may come with playing in San Jose.
Sign with San Jose Mitch Marner!! The team of the future!!!!
Marner has been having one of the best seasons of his entire career throughout all of this drama as he has 85 points in 69 games.
He can definitely hit 100 points this season although he would need to average about 1.25 points per game which is easier said than done.
As for his contract, that is something that Leafs fans will continue to be worried about as time goes on. Only time will tell whether or not he gets what he wants.
